Pep hosts Christmas party for 500 Manchester City players and staff

Pep Guardiola andAManchester CityAhad plenty to celebrate at their club Christmas party on Wednesday night, held while cross city rivals United crashed out of the Carabao Cup.

The Spanish boss hosted a party with 500 members of the Etihad staff and his star players as Jose Mourinho suffered humiliation at the hands of the Bristol City.

The runaway Premier League leaders held a lavish Christmas do in the city centre, theAManchester Evening News reports.

Guardiola’s side had already booked their place in the semi finals – where they will take on Bristol City in the New Year – with a penalty shootout victory against Leicester on Tuesday.

And 24 hours later City celebrated the festive season at Manchester restaurant Menagerie with players, coaches and club staff.

Guardiola has been determined to include all sections of the club in City’s remarkable success this season.

And that was evidenced by the size of the Christmas party, which also saw the Catalan and his players mingle with members of the public and pose for pictures.

City are still in contention to win an unprecedented quadruple and are currently 11 points clear of United at the top of the League.

Mourinho was angered by what he considered to be over the top celebrations from Guardiola’s side following the derby victory earlier this month – but City’s manager insists he will savour every moment of what is turning out to be an incredible campaign.

“I said celebrate again,” he said after victory against Leicester.

“You have to wait to win the titles. We don’t know if we will be able to win the Premier League.

“You have to celebrate the wins.

“In football you don’t need a title to enjoy it.

“You have to celebrate in the process.”

Menagerie owner Karina Jahdav wrote on Instagram: “We have hosted some amazing events & parties but last night was very special hosting 500 of some of the most talented football professionals, players and management in the world for their Christmas Party was a ‘pinch me’ moment!”
