Taiye Oloshe -I pray for Alhaji Issa Aliu Ore to become the next Deputy President of NURTW

• Can we meet you?
I am Alh. Taiye Rilwan aka (Taiye Oloshe), I was born in Ajia Opele Compound in Taiwo Isale, Ilorin South LG, Ilorin, Kwara state. I attended United Primary School, Ilorin and then proceeded to Ilorin Grammar School for my O’levels. I am a transporter who has held different post in Kwara State NURTW and rose to a Branch Chairman Level and also Chairman, Kwara State task force.

• How did your journey into transport started?
I started as a conductor then upgraded to being a driver where I shuttle between Kwara, Minna and Abuja. It will also interest you to know that I am the first transporter in Kwara state to shuttle between Port Harcourt and Ilorin in 1989.

• As a transporter, what post did you held?

Due to my vast experience in the transport sector, I was made a Unit Secretary for Port Harcourt Unit in Ilorin, and rose to the position of Chairman in that same Unit. From there, I emerged as a Branch Auditor, Treasurer and rose to the position of a Branch Chairman. Due to my agility and vast experience with transporters, I was later made the Task Force Chairman in Kwara State and was saddled with the responsibilities of keeping orderly within drivers, check vehicle papers authenticity, vehicle worthiness on road, attitudinal and behavioral characters of drivers, and mode of dressing and also charged drivers to always dress well.

• What post did you currently hold?
Currently, I am the Task force Chairman in Kwara state and with my office, we have completely curbed hooliganism among transporters, we charge drivers against reckless driving, taking of alcohol and other hard drugs before driving, we also give lectures and sermons to drivers on how to have good relationship with their passengers and many more. My office often times gave drivers Sanders for free and we encourage neatness and sanity among drivers.

• People often look at transporters as Hooligans, what is your office doing about this?
For few years now, my office and NURTW in charge of transporters have been doing a lot in combating these among our transporters and it will interest you to know that the newly elected NLC Chairman in Kwara State, Alhaji Issa Aliu Ore is a senior member of NURTW who is also the state chairman. Hence people should no longer see us as hooligans though there are some bad eggs but we are curbing that to the minimum.

• Finally, what word of advice do you have for transporters?
Apparently, as the current Chairman of Kwara State task force, I want to encourage all drivers to have their driver’s license and complete documentation of their vehicles. They should check for tires and proper vehicle maintenance so they are road worthy. I pray to God to elevate my status to a bigger position and I also want to use this medium to appeal to everyone involved in making my boss Alhaji Isa Aliu Ore as the Deputy  President of NURTW.
